I’ve been hitting the roads and trails pretty hard over the past few weeks. Starting on May 8th when I did the B&A and BWI trails with my friend Ken for a whopping 44 miles according to mapmyride.com. Since then I’ve made it out on the 15th (25 miles), the 16th (24 miles), the 19th (23 miles), the 22nd (17 miles) and the 25th (17 miles). This brings my total to 152 miles for the month of May.
Not too shabby, I’d say.
Last night, as I was riding down the B&A trail, I got overtaken by another rider just before Jones Station Road. I hate being overtaken and hate being dropped even more. So, I decided to catch up.
Ray was a friendly dude and we rode the rest of the trail together chatting the whole way. It was a great ride and I was really working. Ray’s pace was pretty fast. Not having a computer on my bike right now I don’t know how fast, but I’d estimate about 17 miles per hour. I normally ride around 14 miles per hour.
I was riding close to my lactate threshold and honestly, I can feel it in my legs today. I may need to get out for a short spin at lunch just to work the lactic acid out of my legs.
