This is a view of the street from my desk at work in Silver Spring, MD. This building sort of sprung up out of nowhere, at least it feels that way. I moved into my current building two years ago and this area was a rundown beat up parking lot with bent rusty parking pylons, broken glass and other detritus.
Silver Spring has come a long way in the five years that I’ve been working there, but sadly one of my favorite coffee shops recently shut down, most likely due to the economy and rising rent. The building where it sat is behind this one.
Really nice job. Architecture is so hard to do. I’m sorry your coffee shop closed. I get really attached to my favorite places.

Thanks. Interestingly, I find buildings and landscape easier than people. The real tragedy of the coffee shop is that it was a local kind of place and not a Starbucks or Caribou Coffee.
It had a certain grit to it that was just right.
