Here is my second experiment with my new watercolor paints. Things I like about this painting include the transitions in the color of the sea. Things that I’m not so excited about are the actual defining lines of the boat. And, I’m still struggling with perspective. The transition at the horizon is a bit disappointing.
Finally, while the saturation is nice and I do like it, this is not what I was going for. I’ve got to figure out how to use a lot more water and a lot less pigment for the understated almost translucent washes I would like to see in my backgrounds.
I get what you’re saying about the horizon, but I like the boat’s lines. And I love the colors. Reminds me of Gaugin.
