Competitive Television

What is up with the state of network television. Last night, I counted no less than five shows on the major networks that were “competitive” in nature. Have we as a society become so engrossed with competition that all our entertainment must be competitive?

I’m not a huge fan of television, but there are times when I’d just like to take a break and relax with something on the idiot box. In the not so distant past television shows had plots (albeit weak ones most of the time) and characters. Now its nonstop competition.

I’m sick of it.
