Story of my life
Published 23.April.2008 entertainment , smiles , steadylife , thoughts , work 1 CommentWhat is it with people scheduling a 2 hour meeting when they really need 3 hours? Sounds like Poor Planning to me.
Argh, it really irritates me when someone schedules a meeting that is not long enough. More annoying is when they schedule a long meeting with no breaks. Two hours. Okay, I’ve had my morning coffee and then some. Who doesn’t need a bio break around 9:00 AM?
Spring Fishing Trip

We went out on the first fishing trip of 2008 over the weekend. It was a charter trip out of Chesapeake Beach. The usual suspects were on the trip including Gus, Schwinger and JSchwing. A good time was had by all.
We set out at 6:00 AM and it was slow going, but we landed 9 rockfish in the 30-39 inch range before the day was out. Unfortuantely, this mean that the 10th guy did not get to real one in. We bought Gus Five-Guys as a consolation prize.
Schwinger wore a silly hat that he found in the garbage at Gus’s Grandfather’s house. It truly was an Outstanding find. Bob Allen and Goretex. Someone needs to get this guy another beer.
Taffy had to go away on her first business trip since going back to work today. She got up at 4:00 to get ready to catch a 6:30 flight. Greyson had been up around 3:00 for his middle of the night snack and was sleeping soundly. He slept until 6:40, about ten minutes after Taff called from the airport.
Mr. Greyson was a very hungry boy when he woke up. Once I fed the little man, he and I spent about an hour hanging out before I took him to drop him off at daycare. He was a very happy boy this morning, until I sat down in front of the computer. He hates the computer.
Guess he might not grow up to be a network engineer. That would be a wise decision on his part.
The Baptism

Surprisingly he was very good with it. Bill Hathaway, the pastor of our church, baptised him with three sprinklings of water and then carried him through the congregation to introduce Greyson to the community. Greyson was quiet the whole time. Bill described Greyson to the congregation included “Greyson, the quiet studious one.”
After church we had a party at the house to celebrate. About 30 people came to the party including our old friends and several of the neighbors, so we had a full house. The neighborhood kids played football in our side yard, and that was really cool. A vision of things to come down the road.
The food was a hit. I made pulled pork (which took up the bulk of the day on Saturday) and everyone raved about it. In additon we had a big fruit salad, potato salad and coleslaw. Finally we had a fabulous cake from Grauls with butter cream icing.
Things broke up around four in the afternoon, which was a good time for the party to wind down organically. Taffy and I spent the rest of the day trying to get Greyson to relax and get ready for bed. The little man was so wound up. He did not nap at all on either Saturday or Sunday.
I think he spit up on me at least 6 times between 4 and 6. Finally, we decised that he was simply overly tired and put him down. Taffy talked to him and told him that he was tired and that it was time to go to sleep and remarkably, Greyson looked at her as if he understood, breathed in a big breath, and turned his head to the side and fell asleep.
Taffy said, “I think the boy understands us better than we think.” I tend to agree.
